Details:

Intent:
Establish a budget, a line item specification, quantify the weight, and provide data that is used by the factory to determine the potential value to the factory the bid might have.

Benefit:
You can begin to see certain collations between administrative functions, preparation functions, and the quantity we are allowed to produce. In addition, it also gives the customer the framework of the budget by which to outline and build the units.

Examples:
From the customer’s perspective, when they start trimming their budget and/or adding material they can see exactly what each change will cost and how it will effect the bottom-line. From the factory’s perspective, from the bid they can determine the amount of molds that need to be made for each project giving preferential treatment to the one that will benefit them the most. For instance, if the factory is backlogged then the project with the least amount of molds to make will work better.

Definition
Define who the proposal or contracts will be made with and submit it to them with a complete list of specification deliverables. From that specification of deliverables all the tasking required by the factory to complete can also be discerned in a very broad overview.
